After co-hosting the panel "Toilet Talk" for the occasion of World Toilet Day, Glenn Austin, director of Safe Water Projects at PATH, and Dr. David Winder, acting CEO of WaterAid America, partner to co-author this letter to the editor. It traces how important sanitation systems were, and are, essential to sustain the health of populations in industrialized countries, and notes the tremendous burden that a large percentage of the developing world still faces because they lack this crucial solution.
