Vietnam 2011

In April 2011, we traveled to Vietnam to gather stories and photos of exciting advances in diarrhea programming—which may ultimately change the way physicians and families perceive, prevent, and treat diarrhea throughout the Mekong region.
Sneak Peek: HWTS Products Coming in 2012

Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage (HWTS) devices are filters that transform contaminated water into water that is safe to drink. To be effective, these products must suit the needs of the low income families who need them most. That's why PATH and partners have conducted rigorous user testing to ensure that their HWTS devices are effective, practical, and easy to use. These photos are a sneak peak of three new HWTS devices that will be available in early 2012. Stay tuned for updates! World Toilet Day 2011

The Seattle Public Library invited families to a special story hour on World Toilet Day, to teach kids about sanitation and, of course, to have a lot of fun!
Global Handwashing Day 2011

With the help of our dedicated PATH-Kenya colleagues, rural communities in Western and Nyanza Provinces joined several other countries to recognize Global Handwashing Day on October 15. The festivities focused on educating school children and included remarks by ministry officials, games, singing and dancing, and of course, handwashing! What's new in poo? Help us defeat diarrhea, a leading cause of child death in Africa and Asia, by advocating for integrated prevention and treatment solutions: child health, water and sanitation, nutrition, vaccines, zinc, rehydration. Engaging communities as advocates in Western Province, Kenya

Nairobi may be Kenya's capital city, but for defeatDD, rural Western Province is where all the action is. And that's good, because this is where disease burden is particularly high. When it comes to diarrhea prevention in communities, education is key. Everyone has a role to play, and when we engage mothers, fathers, and health care workers about simple prevention solutions, we save lives. Click through these slides to learn all the ways we are educating communities in Western Kenya. What's new in poo?
